MBTA 2011 WINTER PARKING INFORMATION
Snow Policy:
On mornings when accumulated snow prevents you from determining your parking space number, you are not required to pay in advance. The Parking Operator will place a payment envelope on your vehicle to collect the daily parking fee. When you return to your vehicle, simply deposit the envelope containing the daily fee into the collection box before you leave the lot. No penalty or surcharge is applied.
Winter Parking Tips:
• Please plan ahead and leave sufficient amounts of time to park during winter storms as some parking locations may fill earlier than usual when severe weather is expected.
• Signing up for Parkmobile, the MBTA's pay-by-cell program, helps avoid waiting in extended payment lines.
• Purchasing a monthly permit during the winter season allows you to park anywhere in the lot. With a monthly permit displayed on your dashboard, you won't have to worry about space numbers.
• When large quantities of snow fall, some parking spots may be lost in open-air locations. If spots are lost due to snow accumulation, please plan ahead and give yourself adequate time to find a space.
• Parking in fire lanes and other unauthorized areas is prohibited.
• It is recommended that you park facing out of a parking spot, as it is easier to jump in the event of a dead battery.
• When entering and exiting your car, please prepare for the ground to be wet and icy. Lots maintained by MBCR are salted, lots maintained by parking operators are sanded and salted, and chemical de-icer is used on garage roofs. Please remember to walk slowly to ensure your safety.
Winter Towing Information:
MBTA parking facilities are maintained by individual parking operators and towing agencies. If you are parked in fire lanes and unauthorized areas, your vehicle is subject to towing. Vehicles left overnight for more than 7 days may be reported to MBTA Transit Police for processing for towing. After 30 days the vehicle is considered "abandoned" and will be towed at owner's expense. In the event that your vehicle is towed, contact MBTA Transit Police at (617)-222-1212.
